Remakes

The following clips have been re-built from silence using my own choice of samples, many of which I crafted myself. Trying to capture the same intensity as a musically driven trailer with nothing but pure sound design was a challenge, but one that I relished from start to finish.

Apex Legends

Video games have always been a significant part of my social life, as well as being the first medium that made me aware of the sound design art form. As I grew older and started looking at game audio more analytically, I quickly grew very attached to the work of Respawn Entertainment. Needless to say their latest IP, Apex Legends (and the preceding Titanfall franchise) became an informal standard for myself as a sound designer, and an icon of the type of work I would ideally like to be doing in the future.

One thing that has always intrigued me about the sonic footprint of titles like this one is how the developers can maintain a consistently identifiable personality and style with each of their characters just through sound alone.

For this remake, I wanted to try my hand at doing just that. Consequently all of the unique hero sound effects have been created completely from scratch using my own samples and synthesizers.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds

Continuing my fascination with the sound design of modern first person shooters, this clip contains a section of a trailer introducing the World Championships for PUBG, and absolutely blew me away the first time I watched it.

The design of weapon sound effects in particular is a craft that I’ve always been interested in, and I jump at any opportunity I can get to display what I’ve learned so far. Therefore, all of the weapon sound effects in this clip have been created by me using a mix of re-sampling, synthesis and layering of other gun sounds.

Halo 5

Like most adolescent males before me, I’ve always had a fascination and admiration of the Halo franchise. Needless to say this intrigue only became more intense when I began learning the sound designer’s craft, my knowledge granting me a much deeper understanding of the game’s sonic intricacies.

This clip also happens to be my first Pro Tools project.

Industry Experience

There really is nothing like teamwork, the following clips are all examples of work completed for others.

Short Films

Studying Film and Television at university had the convenient bonus of exposing me to a smorgasbord of would be directors, producers and the like all vying to get the most out of their films through sound and music.

The following clips are some of my favorites from various genres.

Composing

Music and abstract sound design have always been hand in hand for me, here are a few examples of my work within that discipline
